Doing What Comes Naturally To Me!
If you have found me then you probably already know what a postpartum doula is and why you need one.
But just in case you don’t, a postpartum doula is a person who provides mothers, fathers, and entire families information and support on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery after childbirth, and coping skills for new (or experienced) parents.
It is my personal belief that anyone that has recently welcomed a new baby into their home and family can benefit from the support that a postpartum doula supplies. The first few months after new baby is a major time of transition, a period where normal routines are destroyed and new ones created, and a time where chaos reigns. Even those most prepared can be a loss of control and power over their situation. It can be extremely helpful to have someone in your home to guide you through this time.
Hi, I’m Tegan Goodridge.
I help mothers and fathers like you survive the fourth trimester (the first 3 months plus after welcoming your new baby).
My job as a postpartum doula is to help Mom adjust to being a Mom in Body, Mind and Spirit in the first three months after birth (the Fourth trimester). Services include light housework and tidying up, simple meal preparations, running errands, guidance with newborn care, breastfeeding and/or bottle-feeding support.
Even as a child…
As a child I always knew I wanted to grow up and be a Mommy. That was all I can remember wanting to be. I would take care of my younger brother for my Mom when she needed or sometimes when she did not need me too!
I loved to look after my neighbors children and be a mothers helper, and when I was old enough, I babysat. I babysat, babysat and babysat some more! I worked in day cares and at summer camps. I provided at home daycare for my friends children and worked in a Kindergarten classroom for 4 years. Every job I have ever had was with children.
Becoming a certified postpartum doula
I decided a few years ago to pursue and study to become a doula.
I never realized that there was a job for what I had been doing for so many years with my friends when they brought home a new baby. I was doing what came naturally to me – lending a hand to a new Mom, using my experience with having and breastfeeding 4 children of my own and most importantly, mothering the mother.
In other words, I have been a doula for far longer than I have been certified for. I have been taking care of Moms, babies and families for as long as I can remember and I look forward to continuing with you.
along with my role as a Certified Postpartum Doula I am the mother of 4 children, Kayla(24), Emma(21), Jameson(20), and Molly(16). I am also the wife of Dennis who I have been married to for 18 wonderful years!
I am much more than a mother and wife, I am a loyal friend, a daughter to two wonderful parents, a sister to 3 brothers, 4 brother-in-laws and 8 sister-in-laws. I am an Auntie to 30 nieces and nephews and that number keeps growing!
I love my role as caregiver to my family and am happy share it with your family as well!
What do Clients
say about me?
“Tegan knows how to make a baby feel happy and secure. Upon meeting Tegan, my little man immediately adored her. The first time she picked him up, he smiled at her and started making happy cooing noises, which brought me great comfort. I know when I go out; Tegan goes above and beyond to make my baby happy. She engages my son in the same activities that I do, including wearing him on walks around town and rubbing his little back when it’s time to rest.”
Tegan is an amazing person and post-partum doula. She is kind, nurturing, and passionate about helping others. Tegan has gone above and beyond to make my family’s postpartum experience joyful.
My husband, my baby, and I all loved having Tegan as our postpartum doula. Having her present in those first weeks felt like having a close, nonjudgmental, knowledgeable, family friend come to help out. We are so grateful to have her work with us. I highly recommend Tegan – she will definitely significantly improve your postpartum experience!
Tegan did a great job helping me with household chores, enabling me to focus on what’s most important: bonding with my baby. She emptied the dishwasher, folded laundry, changed the sheets, and helped with meal preparation.
